For the Love of Art

Constructed in 1924, the historic building that once housed the Newburgh Savings Bank is celebrating its 102nd anniversary this year. Located at the intersection of Broadway and Liberty Street in the city center, the building itself is a work of art. Spanning three levels and totaling 13,000 square feet, it features exquisite marble walls and floors, arched ceilings, and impressive vaults.

Designed by the renowned Chicago firm Weary and Alford, the interior showcases a plaster ceiling depicting significant moments in mid-Hudson history. A massive vault and Renaissance-style bronze elevator doors in the lobby remain as testaments to its rich heritage. Now revitalized as the Bank Art Gallery by the Doering Foundation, this iconic structure continues to inspire and serve the community
