Joan HarmonJoan Harmon’s work explores the mysterious realms of memory, dreaming, and transformation. Using glass as her primary sculptural medium, she investigates how the mind remembers, rearranges, and reimagines experience. Her fascination with the brain as both an organ of thought and a vessel of emotion drives her to create forms that evoke the biological and psychological landscapes of human consciousness.
Recurring motifs such as the brain, pillow, and human feet serve as symbols of introspection and vulnerability. These elements reflect the liminal space between waking and dreaming, where the unseen becomes visible and the intangible takes form. Harmon’s cast glass works, created during a residency at the Creative Glass Center of America, embody a delicate balance between fragility and luminosity, inviting viewers to meditate on the transformative nature of memory and the quiet power of reflection.
