In Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel Fresco featured an image of God giving the spark of life to Adam by touching his finger. That was the beginning of life, of free will, and ultimately a whole lot of mischief.
'X' is the space where Adam thinks... He finds temptations daunting. Took existence to the brink... His childish grab for knowledge flaunting. The viper Knew - who best to like... Left a Man no place to hide. With a staff and a rod with which to strike... The rib where God's forbidden fruits abide. Adam's Dad was not amused. The Master knows no laughter. Initial Sin, was he accused. And Grace came a tumblin' after. Now we're stuck in Eden's crime. We wage the cosmic raffle. Take a leap or do the time. The prize is Adam's apple. Epilogue... What was Michaelangelo to think... Aloft to render the mighty hand of Nod? That hand... did it really bring Adam's life to brink? Or... Did Adam give it back, by God? No one knows for sure Except one thing as such... Tho future days remain obscure They surely kept in touch. |
