About Mark HarringtonMark Harrington (b.1988, Chicago Illinois) is a self-taught painter and ceramicist living and working in Brooklyn NY. Utilizing both handbuilding and pottery wheel techniques, he creates stoneware vessels and sculptures from collaged forms that later serve as the surface for intuitive mark-making, experimental color and compounded narratives. Mark’s vibrant and irregular ceramics draw influence from contemporary abstract painting while being firmly rooted in the historical tradition of decorative vessel-making. He has exhibited at Cafe Studio (New York, NY), Galerie Shibumi (New York, NY), Target Gallery (Alexandria, VA), Gallery MC (New York, NY), Human Nature (New York, NY), Baton Rouge Center for Contemporary Art (Baton Rouge, LA) and Local Project Art Space (Long Island City, NY). His work has been featured in Cell Vision magazine. He holds a BA in Electronic Media and Film Studies from Towson University. Featured Piece Exhibiting at Bank Art Gallery |
